Technology: A Useful tool to work in the University.

In an era of technology and information, the use of computers and other hardware is so necessary. Computers have a utility for many tasks of different kinds. In the University too. With the technology we do calculates, we write papers, and we can communicate with other partners. Since I study Psychology, the technology has been irreplaceable for all the work that I have to do. This year has not been the exception.

This year, I worked a lot. In each one of my subjects I have to do many investigations and reports. For example, for "Psychodiagnostic on Children and Adolescents" we (with a mate) did a paper about Antisocial Personality Disorder and a report about a patient that we had in the hospital. In the redaction of the paper, we spend a lot a time, reading books and other papers. When you think that you have all the necessary information, finally you can write something. And the report it requires an enormous responsibility, because we work with real people.

For those proposes, Internet is a very necessary tool. In Internet we can find a many papers and investigations, which we need to do a great work. Otherwise, we couldn't access to the information with the velocity that we did. For example, we can read investigations made this year in countries so far like the United States, and other countries around the world. Only Internet gives us that possibility. Internet is too an excellent tool to communicate with other classmates. If we can't work together, we can do from our homes. There is chat software, Messenger, which we use to talk, to discuss, and even to send our works.

To conclude, technology is without exception essential for work in this time. It works like a facilitator. We provide us information and rapid communications. That's why I can't imagine to work without technology right now. All of my work was made with a computer. It becomes a requirement for teachers on the delivery of papers and reports. We can work faster and easier. Probably, in the future the utility of the technology in life of the people keep rising. This rising, I think, it has no limits.

Memories from my Childhood

When our life makes complicated, always we remember early years, when we were kids. In our childhood we live without problems, without preoccupations. It's true that we can't use our freedom, because we depend from our parents, but definitely life was easier than now. I kept good memories from my childhood. When I was kid, my life was so simple. My parents were good to me. I grew up in a little home in Ñuñoa, in a little building of 4 floors. My home was in the first floor. In the neighborhood I made many friends. Always we reunited outside of the buildings and we played soccer and played some pranks.

A good memory from these years was when I was 11 years old. Me and my friend we're truly a gang. One day, we thought in a new Joke to make to the people of neighborhood. When a person walked close the buildings, one of us, ask to that person: What time is it? The innocent answered the question. Afterwards, altogether, watched our wristwatch hided until that moment (each one had one) and we said: Oh let's see! It was so funny! The victim always laughed and we too. Ha Ha Ha. We're just a group of clowns.

Another day, we played with girls "policemen against thieves". The game consisted in a group of us were the policemen and another the thieves. The policemen pursuit the thieves, and whenever a thief was caught, the rest of them must to liberate him. We used the buildings to hide us. The game was enjoyable. When the night was warm, we played at night.

Well, many memories come to my head, when I remembered my childhood. It was a good time. I missed that years, but I don't regret of my life. I learned many lesions from muy life, and one of them is "Always we must to look forward, without forget our story. Many new adventures have to come.

Santiago for tourists

This time I’ll talk about my city, Santiago. Santiago is a big city, the biggest of Chile. It has a lot a people living in his territory. If you are a tourist, there is no doubt, that you find a lot of entertainment in the metropolis. There are many places to visit, museums, parks, hills, pubs, restaurants and discotheques. But, What places do you have to choose? The decision isn’t easy. It depends of what things do you like to do. For that reason I made a list with five places that you should visit. If I put me in your place, one of the places that I should visit is Downtown. Why? Because It has many historic places, with nice and old constructions. It has too, many museums, with different topics. But If you want to go to Downtown, you should go with a Chilean friend, because sometimes it’s a bit dangerous. There are thieves waiting for tourists. Another place to visit is San Cristobal Hill. Sundays is a great day to go. San Cristobal Hill is a beautiful place to jogging or bike riding. In Summer there’s a public pool, a there is the Zoo. In third place we have Bellavista neighborhood. It is a bohemian neighborhood with a lot of pubs and discoteques . In Fourth place, we have Lastarria neighborhood with many places to drink a delicious cup of coffe. There are a theater to view interesting performances and a cinema to watch great movies. In Last place if you want to go to shopping, we have many malls, to buy souvenirs, like Parque Arauco or Apumanque. Well whatever you choose to visit, it will be a good decision.

The Mapuche Conflict

Time to do the homework of English…

Ok, this time I must to talk about the mapuche conflict. I recognize that i don't read too much about the conflict, but i will make an effort to explain some facts about this problem.

One fact that we don't have to forget, this is a historic conflict. It begins in 1990, but so many years ago, Spanish people cheated mapuche people, and they dispose their land. Maybe this is the origin of the problem. In 1990, a group of mapuche communities claims for a restitution of his lands and rights. The rights that they were talking about coming from "Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People". It affirms the right of self-recognition as Indigenous People.

Few Months ago, Mapuche prisoners accused to commit crimes against the private property, starting a Hunger Strike, claiming his right to be judge non for a terrorist crime in a Military process (with an enormous punishment), but a Penal Crime in a Penal process. Finally, after ninety days of strike, the government accepts their demands. They will be judge for a Civilian court. Although their won this fight, the conflict isn’t over. It just the beginning. There are a lot of work to do for the rights of the indigenous people. In South, the police force commit many abuses against mapuche people. They’re violating Human Right, practicing physical and psychological torture. Even so, nobody do anything with these facts. Maybe one day these crimes will be judge.

My Favorite Movie

Welcome back to my blog. In this occasion I'll talk about of one of my favorite movies, "Dark Knight" (Batman). This is a film of Christopher Nolan, a great director, writer and producer.

Well, I want to make it clear that I'm a big fan of Batman. I read a lot of comics of him. Maybe my opinion isn't objective, but the critics support the movie, even an actor, won an Oscar for his role in the picture.

Many are the reasons that made "Dark Night" a successful movie. It has a great atmosphere, great characters, and very good special effects. But, in my opinion, the main reasons are the great story and memorable performances ("The Joker").

The film continues the story of the first part (Batman Begins), with the introduction of The Joker, performed by Heath Ledger, when he was stolen a bank with his gang. In the final part of that scene, he killed all of members of his gang, showing us just a part of the personality of the character.

Well, the movie it's too complex to explain in just a few lines, it's not a classic movie about good versus evil. It goes beyond that. In the film, the evil shows his worst face, because all the bad things that "The Joker" made, it hasn't logic. It prevails totally chaos. A good dialog from Alfred, the butler and friend of Bruce Wayne (Batman) explains this:

Alfred Pennyworth: A long time ago, I was in Burma, my friends and I were working for the local government. They were trying to buy the loyalty of tribal leaders by bribing them with precious stones. But their caravans were being raided in a forest north of Rangoon by a bandit. So we went looking for the stones. But in six months, we never found anyone who traded with him. One day I saw a child playing with a ruby the size of a tangerine. The bandit had been throwing them away.
Bruce Wayne: Then why steal them?
Alfred Pennyworth: Because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn…

To conclude, "Dark Knight" it's an excellent movie, with a great story, but it leaves a strange sensation. If you saw the end of the movie, you'll know about I'm talking about. It's not about a bad sensation, but a gap feeling. That's all for today.

Good Bye.

My experience writing this blog…

Hi guys! This is my last post. It was very nice to write here. But like the good things, this blog is over. And there's the topic of my last post, my experience writing here. Well, like my classmates of the English course, we have the obligation to create a blog. In spite of that, I think that many of them enjoyed writing about different topics. At least it is my case. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I enjoyed doing this blog.

Why? I do not know very well, but I think it is for the reason, after a hard week, this blog helps to relax me, writing about pleasant topics. The classmate wrote about sports, music, hobbies and many other things. In my case I love to write about music and sports. I don't know if that helps me to improve my English. I think I have a good base before the course. Perhaps it helps me to write fluently. But it is just practice. Yes, it's that requires to dedicate a considerable time, but it wasn't terrible. One hour per week, it wasn't very much. It wasn't a waste of time either.

In my opinion the advantage of write a blog is precisely writing fluently. It requires a lot of improvisation. As well, I try to "think in English". It's not the same to talk in English (it requires more practice and abilities to improvisation and think fast), but similar. I recognize that talk in English is harder than write, but write well, it is the first step to talk. And what's the disadvantage? He he. I'll be sincere. Come to classes on Fridays at 2:30 until 6:00, it wasn't very enjoyable. I prefer to spend my time talking friends or prepare me to going to a party. But It's the only disadvantage.

I hope that you enjoy to reading the blog, as I enjoy to writing.

Good Bye!

My favorite Sport

Hello boys and girls! This time I'll talk about Basketball, my favorite sport.

Well, Basketball is a sport that it plays with the hands and a ball. The game consist of two teams of five players each one. The objective of the team is put the ball in the hoop of the team antagonist. If you throw the ball from inside of the half circle you score two points. If you throw the ball outside the half circle, you score three points. Each player must bounce the ball to advance on the court. You can only give two footsteps without bouncing. The sport requires technique for throw, pass the ball, dribbling and jump. It's a sport of contact. It needs a lot of practice, to manage the ball and play as a team. The time of the match is divided on four periods. The time is variable; it depends of the rules of the tournament. In National Basketball Association, the most famous league of the world, periods are during twelve minutes. The team with more points at the end of the fourth period wins the match.

I practice basketball since I was a little kid. I started at age of eight years. In my school period, I trained three-four times a week. I loved it. But in my last year in the school, I had a seriously injury on my knee. It was terrible for me. It required an operation to repair the damage of the ligament and six mouths of recovery. I tried to get back to the Basketball in my first year of the University, but again my knee suffered a new injury. Since that time I didn't train Basketball anymore. It was very sad. But the live continues...

A Photograph with my cousins

Hello people that follow this blog! How are we? This time I'll talk about this photograph:

Ha ha ha…

Well, this photo it's took it in A Shop called "Baúl de la Abuela". The people that appeared in it, are my sister and cousins.

From left to right: My cousin Ignacio; my cousins Monserrat and Macarena (they are sisters); Me; Francisca the smallest; my sister Maria Paz; Consuelo (sister of Ignacio) and Sergio, old brother of Francisca.

The photo was taken in 2006, when my uncles (brothers of my father) starts a new business, a restaurant. They need photos and pictures to decorate the restaurant and it's the reason for they got us to the Shop. I didn't want to take me a photo with a top hat, but my Aunt (mother of Macarena and Monserrat) insist. Finally I accepted. That day after took the photographs, we went to eat pizza at Pizza Hut. It was very nice from my uncles to invite us. I ate a lot of pieces of pizza, he he.

At first look, I thought this photo isn't my style. Also I didn't want to go to the Store. But Now I think of other way. It was one of the only photos that I appeared with all my cousins. It's a nice family heirloom.

My favorite Hobby

Hello guys! What's up? This time I want to talk about my favorite hobby.

Well, I think that I haven't only one favorite hobby, but there's one that I practice always.

It is riding a bike. I love it. If I have enough time, I go to everywhere. I go to the University on my bike too.

I started to practice since I was a little kid. My first bike I got it at age of five. Months later, before my 6th Birthday, I learned to ride the bike without the "little wheels". I fell from the bicycle many times, but it was worth it.
Just like I said, I go to my University on my bike. But, there is one trouble. When I come back to my home, I arrive too agitated and sweated. These days, I take a shower three times a day. First, in the morning, later after doing exercises in the gym, and finally when I arrive to my home.

With this weather I stopped to ride my bike. I prefer days of spring or summer. But, when the weather is good, I don't doubt it.

Sometimes, I like to ride on my bike to the top of San Cristobal Hill. It's a very nice landscape and many people ride on their bikes too. It's a familiar place; there are people jogging and children with parents and old people walking.

I'd like in the future make a long travel on my bike. I hope to do some day.

One of my favorite movies

Hello guys! This time, I want to talk about movies. Specific, it is one of my favorite movies.

This time, the movie that I talk about is called Battle Royale, a Japanese movie. The story consists of

Japan pos World War II, where the kids of 9th grade of one school, choose at random, are kidnapped, and they put on an island.

The military authorities that kidnapped them, order the kids to kill each every one until just one survived.

Each kid has a collar that contains a bomb. There're several rules related with the collar:

  • If a kid tries to take off the collar, his or her bomb explodes.
  • If a kid is on a part of the island called "dangerous zone", the collar explodes.
  • If in twenty four hours, there' is no kills, all the collars explode too.
  • If a kid try to escape from the island, his or her collar explodes.

As well, there are two boys, they have orders (from the military supervisor) to kill all the kids.

The main characters are four, Shuya Nanahara and his girlfriend Noriko Nakagawa; Shogo Kawada, the survivor of a preview "Battle Royal" and

And Kazuo Kiriyama (one of the assassins).

The movie when was released, it caused a lot controversy. It has too much violence and it treats topics of egoism and individualism. But there's a moral of the story.

The friendship and love always prevail over bad feelings. I like this movie because the different aspects that we can analyze the movie. We can analize the movie from
Psychology and Sociology, for example. Well, that's all for today.

Good bye!

My favorite piece of technology

Hello boys and girls! Did you miss me? He he. This time, I like to talk about my favorite piece of technology. My favorite piece of technology is my computer. Why? Because all my life I have been a gamer. Many people can think that I’m a nerd, but I’m not. I’m a person with many different hobbies. One of these hobbies is the videogames. I used to participate in online tournaments for almost seven years. I participated in tournament called LAN parties (LAN is the abbreviation for Local Area Network) too. This year mi computer has broken, and I can’t play. One day when I turned on my computer, the screen was in blank. I hear the noise of the Operative System, but I can’t see anything. I think there is a trouble with the motherboard or the video card. I can’t prove this theory. I think on buy a new computer, but I don’t have enough money. I look in different Computer shops, compare prices and computer pieces, but I can’t buy all the pieces that I need. They are too expensive. I hope with a little help of my family, I can buy the pieces that I need to build a new computer.

Good Bye!

Sometimes this situation is sad, but it doesn't matter, because my best friends always has been there.

In my Birth, I usually have a lot of music to dance, a many things to eat. I have too many partylamps. One of them is a
a black light lamp. It causes a great effect, white clothes and teeth look fluorescent.

My birthday party is a great event. It's "the day" when my family and friends are together. A very happy moment for me.

We always eat a cake and we dance all night long, until the sun arise. We drink a lot too. My favorite drink for these ocations is

"Cuba Libre". This drink is a mix of Coke and Rum with Ice. I tried always to buy a good Rum , but sometimes I don't have money.

Well, the drink insn't important if I have my friends and family with me.

Melanie Klein and her contribution to the Psychoanalysis

Hi folks! Well, I’d like to talk about a person, who contributed to improvement on the Psychoanalysis. This person is Melanie Klein. Melanie Reizes (her single name) was born on Vienna on March 30th 1882. She’s got married in 1882 with Arthur Klein, at age of twenty-one. That year, she and her husband lived in Rosenberg, Hungary. The couple had three children, Melitta, Hans and Erich.
She studied History and arts on Vienna University.
Melanie Klein had her first approach on Psychoanalysis in 1913 with Sándor Ferenczi, when she was living in Budapest.
Melanie made great contributions to the theory, especially on the work with children. She was one of the co-founders of object relations theory. Also she thought in a phase before the Oedipus Complex, when the child still has breast-fed for his/her mother. Klein proposed two different states of the psyche, the depressive position and the paranoid-schizoid position. This theory explain the human development.
Melanie Klein’s work was collected in four volumes, "Love, Guilt and Reparation: And Other Works 1921-1945"; "The Psychoanalysis of Children"; "Envy and Gratitude" and "Narrative of a Child Analysis".
Melanie died at age of seventy-eight years in September 22th 1960.

A Great Artist: Jeff Buckley

This time I like to talk about one of my favorite musicians, Jeff Buckley. Jeff was son of Tim Buckley, a seventy's folk rock artist, that he abandoned him at very short age. Jeff rose with his mother and grandmother. Well, Jeff was an extraordinary singer and compositor. His only album before his dead, "Grace" is a masterpiece. “Grace” was released in 1994, period that the music style dominant was Grunge. Because of this, the album didn’t sale much. But there is no reason to think that “Grace" is a poor album. "Grace” takes many different styles, Folk, Grunge, Ballad, Blues and Pop. The album has ten great songs, with wonderful, but melancholic lyrics. For Example, “Last Goodbye” talks about a broken relationship; “Lover you should’ve come over” explains the feelings of a man that he missed his girlfriend. Besides, Jeff had an extraordinary voice. For these reasons, I think he was one of the most influential artists of all time. Many musicians recognized his talent, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Bono, Chris Cornell, and many others.
It’s sad to know that he died too early. He was swimming on a slack water channel of the Mississippi River, and he disappeared. His body was found six days later. Jeff Buckley was thirty years old.

Welcome!

Hi, my name is Javier, I live in Chile and I’m twenty-five years old. This is my personal blog. Well, I’ll write here about different topics, personal experiences, music, news, and etcetera. I hope you enjoy reading. This time I’d like to talk about the new government led by the president Sebastian Piñera. I think that this period of four years will be not good. Why? Because the tendencies too conservative and neoliberal of the government will cause disagreement on the population. What do you think about this?

Earthquake in Chile! My experience...

Well, there are multiple experiences about the Earthquake. In my case, I had been celebrating my birthday on a party with my friends. At the moment of the earthquake, I was dancing with a girlfriend. Then the floor started to shake and we couldn't walk. Many friends went out the house. I stayed with two friends, close to the entrance. We have a swimming pool, and the water started to come out. The three minutes and a half that lasted the earthquake were awful. One of the friends next to me cried, worried about his mother and brother. They live in a building on the sixth floor. The electricity went out and cell phones didn’t work. My cell phone has a radio, and I started to hear Cooperativa radio station. The newscaster said: The earthquake has an intensity of 8,8 on Richter scale. Wow!

(This is a photo of that night, before the earthquake)
